The Union

Millennium Restaurant Group, with WMU, brings you the Union , a Chicago style Cabaret and Grille. The locals know: casual lunch and dinner dining, mixed with regular live entertainment through Western Michigan University’s renowned music department and various local artists make The Union a great place to enjoy any evening out!

The Union is Kalamazoo's hottest night spot, featuring live weekend entertainment and beautiful artwork from Western Michigan University's faculty and student body. The entertainment varies from week to week, featuring many different musical styles, including upbeat Jazz, Salsa, Broadway, Big Band and more! Art that lends itself to the Union’s eclectic décor changes every few months, or once each season, depending upon availability and demand.

Located in at the Gateway to the Kalamazoo Mall, The Union is the perfect destination before and after the show because of its proximity to many of the area's cultural venues such as the Civic Auditorium, The Epic Center, Miller Auditorium and The State Theater. At the very heart of downtown, The Union is the pulse of the nightlife in Kalamazoo.

The Union features twelve beers on tap, a full bar, and an extensive martini list. The menu is as whimsical as the surroundings, filled with unique items. We also offer all of those old reliables, with a twist.

Our casual-yet-attentive service style adds to the festive atmosphere, allowing you to enjoy all there is to offer at The Union Cabaret & Grille.

Our Chef

The Union’s own Chef Eric Gillish has joined Millennium Restaurant Group from the Starwood Hotel properties. With degrees in Culinary Arts, Culinary Management, and Baking and Pastry, Chef Eric’s leadership in the kitchen as well as his menu development style is a true testament to the acclaimed Chefs under which he apprenticed.

As a student in a program designed to allow for studies abroad, Chef Eric had opportunity to learn and practice his craft in Greece, Italy, Crete, Turkey, Israel, and Egypt. He was also asked to join a national team to compete for the United States in the Maltese Islands, during which he took two Gold Medal Awards for the US team.
